Most antique lanterns were originally either gas or oil lit as they were made before the invention on electric lighting. . These lanterns can be illuminated with electric light by simply dangling the light cord and bulb into the centre of the lantern. There is no need to make any electrical connection directly to any of these lanterns. They are all supplied with a free ceiling rose and hook combination, which the lantern chains attach to. Your cable then drops through the hole in the centre of the hook, and that has the bulb on the end that then lights the lantern. It requires an electrician to replace a ceiling rose and deal with your cable and bulbholder, just exactly as it does for any replacement electrical lighting.

Below: LO17P - Extremely rare chance to own a large matched pair of stained glass hall lanterns. The stained glass windows are completely original, dating from around 1895, and include 5 hand cut glass jewels in each panel. The solid polished brass frames are newly made by hand to make a totally unique pair of matching stained glass lanterns.
Exact sizes are as follows, The box part measures 240mm wide X 340mm high. The total current overall drop from the ceiling, including the pre-wired rose, rod and chains is 500mm. This can be adjusted by either having an extended ceiling fitting (to order) or by having long chains and a traditional ceiling rose (supplied).
The pair are supplied with a professionally wired, and come complete with ceiling rose, chains, rod, cable and bulbholder ready to hang in your hall or room. They can take a long life low energy bulb available everywhere.

Below: New arrival. L030. Antique Arts & Crafts period hall lantern. Made circa 1905. Frame is made from solid copper and brass and the glass shade is hand blown to fit the bowed struts. Completely original, highly polished and ready to hang. Has a new bulbholder but must be sold as unwired due to current legislation. Price £395.00 plus P&P

An original Art Deco period chrome plated figurine and an original cream coloured molded Art Deco glass shade. The fugure has been converted at some time into a lamp, with the wiring on the outside of the figure and a new bulbholder. With some TLC this could be made into a fine affordable Art Deco lamp, but is sold unwired as seen due to current regulations. The bulbholder is a replacement and it has not been tested. Price £95.00 plus postage. Size approx 130mm wide X 300mm high.
