The lanterns below are either for sale in the shop or via this website. Viewing is best by appointment only, as not all lanterns or lamps are in our shop.

Most antique lanterns were originally either gas or oil lit as they were made before the invention on electric lighting. These lanterns can be illuminated with electric light by simply dangling the light cord and bulb into the centre of the lantern. There is no need to make any electrical connection directly to any of these lanterns. They are all supplied with a free ceiling rose and hook combination, which the lantern chains attach to. Your cable then drops through the hole in the centre of the hook, and that has the bulb on the end that then lights the lantern. It requires an electrician to replace a ceiling rose and deal with your cable and bulbholder, just exactly as it does for any replacement electrical lighting. Most of our antique lights and lanterns will of course show minor signs of wear that are to be expected of a light fitting of considerable age. Below: Lantern L036. Genuine antique Victorian hall lanern - made circa 1890 and in perfect original condition. No damage to glass and all glass and frame is original. Contains ruby red glass amber and pale blues in each panel as well as heavy textured clear glass to reflect the light. This lantern also has its original gas pipe which is now fitted with a hook so it is ready to hang. Size 180mm W x 500mm High to top of hook. Price £595.00 plus plus P&P.

Below:: £ 350.00 Original Art Deco ceiling uplighter. In excellent condition with original etched glass inserts, all intact depicting Art Deco stylised floral pattern with interconnecting stripes. Price on Application. Size 12" drop but can be lengthened by adding more chain, and 20" diameter. Slight nibble on tip of one panel - no cracks at all and no repairs.
